Proverbs 4:5-7 Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.
Several years ago, I was thinking about relocating to a different city. It was the Fall of 2010! I worked with a Real Estate Agent who showed me various properties. Some were beautiful townhomes while others were gorgeous single family residences in gated communities. During my search for the best property, I prayed somewhat for God’s direction and rarely sought His wisdom in this decision. In that season of my life, I was more concerned about my wants and needs vs. God’s will and purpose for my life. Long story short, the Lord said “No” to my relocation plans and closed the doors. Contributing factors to His answer included – although this is what I wanted, I had no peace about it; sellers accepted a higher bid from a different buyer; the property required a conventional loan for the purchase; or the home was sold. Even though I was disappointed, I knew it was the Lord affirming to me His answer was “No”.
Fast forward five years to 2015, I felt in my heart; noticed what I said, “I felt”. Based on my feelings, I began this process again of looking for homes in that same area. However, I prayed more fervently and sought God’s wisdom and direction in this decision. To sum it up, the Lord’s answer remained the same, “No”. This time, I wasn’t as discouraged and disappointed as before. I had the peace of God and I could rest in His answer knowing that His plan for my life is far better than my own plan. That experience taught me a valuable lesson in learning how to seek God’s wisdom in all my situations no matter how big or small they may be. I cannot base my decisions on how I’m feeling in the moment. They need to be centered on the truth of God’s Word. I need to ask myself these questions: “Is this what God wants for me?”, “Does He agree with this decision?”, “Does it line up with His plan and purpose for my life?” and so forth. By faithfully keeping God first and diligently seeking His wisdom in all my circumstances, I will be able to discern and know what He wants for my life vs. my own selfish desires.
Ladies, I highly encourage you to keep God first and foremost in every area of your life. Proactively seek God’s wisdom in all your situations. If you are unsure of your career choice, or you are undecided of what college to attend, ask God and seek His wisdom. You may have other concerns such as: What is your ministry calling?, Should you buy a new car?, Should you move to another city or state?, Should you marry that man?, Should you get a new gym membership?, Should you change your work schedule?, Should you buy a new work/school outfit?, etc. The last three questions may seem comical and meaningless, but God is into the details. He is concerned about everything no matter how important or insignificant they may seem. God deeply loves you and He cares for you as His daughter. He knows what you need before you have need of it. These are concerns you really need to take to the Lord, seek His wisdom and guidance for while allowing Him to lead you in His decision and His answer for your situations.
Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Matthew 6:30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
As I grow closer to the Lord, I’m learning to seek His wisdom in all things, in which some may be insignificant to me, but they are of great value in God’s eyes. This may include, buying a new outfit, whether or not I should go watch a certain movie, whether I should buy a new eye shadow to add to my growing make-up collection, or should I buy another cheeseburger meal for the week considering I already had two in that particular week. And so forth.
The Lord has also placed on my heart to pray He grants His wisdom to other people I have connections with. For instance, my mechanic. Recently, I was experiencing car issues and I took my vehicle to my mechanic to fix the problem. On the way to his shop, I was praying for the Lord to extend His wisdom to him on what the underlying problem was, so it can be fixed quickly and properly. And the Lord did. He is So FAITHFUL!!! When I think of the Lord and His Faithfulness, it reminds me of His attributes:
F – He is a Good Good FATHER
A – He is ALMIGHTY God
I – He is INFINITE
T – He is the God of all TRUTH
H – He is a present HELP in my times of need
F – He is always FAITHFUL in my good times as well as the bad
U – He is UPRIGHT in all His Ways
L – His LOVE for me is everlasting and unconditional
Ladies, I encourage you to seek God’s wisdom in all your circumstances. There is no situation to big or to small that He can’t handle.
Genesis 18:14a Is anything too hard for the Lord?
He is the GREAT I AM and His wisdom will always lead you down the right path. Trust Him! He loves you very much and He will never disappoint you. Jesus knows Best!!!
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Proverbs 4:8-13 Exalt her, and she will promote you; she will bring you honor, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory she will deliver to you. Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, and the years of your life will be many. I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, and when you run, you will not stumble. Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; keep her, for she is your life.
Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.
